Museum of National Jewels

What we want to introduce in this article is the most expensive and valuable sightseeing place in Iran.

So valuable that no one has been able to estimate its real value and it is the main supporter of the economic, financial and monetary foundation of this country. This valuable place is Treasury of National Jewels (Museum of National Jewels) located in Tehran (the capital of Iran), which is located in a highly protected area. This museum is one of the important tourist destinations of Iran, which is visited by millions of domestic and foreign tourists every year.

Where is the Museum of National Jewels?

It may not be believable, but for the safety of the museum, it was built in the basement of the Central Bank of Iran building located on Ferdowsi Street, and it is housed in a very large safe with an area of 1000  square meters. The Central Bank and the Treasury of National Jewels are located in the center of Tehran.

The history of collecting jewelry and building a place to store them:

Iran had a royal government from thousands of years ago until 1979  AD, which was located in the richest geographical region of human history (that is, the Middle East and Mesopotamia). This long period of time and the wealth of the region made the treasury of the kings of Iran always full of exquisite and expensive jewels. In addition to that, the Iranians always took control of large and fertile lands due to their strong army, which increased the amount of the royal treasury.Over time and with the looting of the jewels of the royal treasury, this precious treasure was scattered and every part of it was in the possession of the ruler or the king, until with the establishment of the Safavid dynasty and the efforts of its kings, the national treasure of Iran was collected again and a special office was created to deal with it.

After that, two events increased the volume of the treasure. 1- Nader Shah Afshar's invasion of India and confiscation of the treasury of the Mughal Empire of India and 2- the purchase of expensive European jewels (which were mostly Iranian) by the Qajar kings. Finally, during the Pahlavi period, this treasure was transferred from the royal palace to the central bank and became a Monetary support. Today, these jewels are on public display in the National Jewelry Museum.

But what jewels are in the Treasury:

Some of the best, most important, most valuable, strangest and most famous objects in the world are located in this museum.Peacock throne (royal throne of the Qajar kings) - Pahlavi crown - Jewel sphere with more than 51  thousand pieces of jewels - Naderi tear (Jegheh) - Naderi throne - Golden belt - Kiani crown - Thousands of pieces of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, agates, jade, turquoise, pearls, gold - thousands of golden objects - leather armors and shields - jewel swords - Noor-ul-Ain Diamond- Nader shah sword - emerald and gold necklaces and bracelets and etc. But the most important and precious piece is Darya-i-noor Pink Diamond, which is one of the largest diamonds in the world with a weight of 182  carats. The king of India gave this diamond to Nader Shah. Another diamond, which is the twin of the Darya-i-noor, is called Koh-i-Noor, which is currently in the crown of the King of England. The Treasury of National Jewels is a cultural and identity treasure of thousands of years of the Iranian people that has no parallel in the world and is considered one of the most important jewels treasures in the world. So everyone should see the sparkle of its jewels once in their life.
